1) Montreal (2 days)
For your two-week stay in Quebec, it’s most practical and economical to land in Montreal.
On your arrival day in Montreal, between the travel time to your accommodation, fatigue, and jet lag, you’ll be left with little time or energy! So, I’d recommend getting some good rest before you start your tour of Quebec.
The next day, kickstart a full day of exploring Montreal! I’d suggest starting your morning with a visit to Old Montreal and Old Port dictricts.
In the historic district, don’t miss out on visiting Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal, Bonsecours Market, Clock Tower Quay, and Jacques-Cartier Square.
If you want to learn more about the history of these monuments and neighborhood, you can also book a guided tour of Old Montreal by clicking here!
At the Old Port, you can also enjoy a nice stroll along the St. Lawrence River. In summer, it’s a hot spot for joggers and cyclists, and in winter, you’ll find a skating rink and can try your hand at ice fishing!
From the Old Port of Montreal, I recommend you take (click on the orange links to book):
- A one-hour cruise on the St. Lawrence River
- A ride on Canada’s tallest Ferris wheel
- A zip-line descent.
At noon, I suggest you dine at the restaurant of the Pointe à Callières Museum, also known as the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History, located across from Alexandra Quay.
For only $25, you can enjoy a complete gourmet menu (starter + main course + dessert). It’s really good and besides, the restaurant offers a panoramic view of the entire Old Port..
It’s one of my favorite spots to eat in Montreal! Remember, reservations are a must.
In the afternoon, head to Mount Royal Park, an essential attraction for any Montreal visit.
Climb up to the Mount Royal Lookout to enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city. You can also walk along the marked trails and around the Beaver Lake.
You’ll likely spot a bunch of squirrels throughout the park. In winter, don’t hesitate to try ice skating or cross-country skiing. And for a softer option, have a sled ride!
To wrap up the day, make your way back to the Plateau-Mont-Royal area and explore its charming traditional houses and plethora of shops.
As the sun goes down, how about digging into the national favorite, poutine? It’s a delicious way to dive into some local goodness!
The best place to taste it on Mount Royal is at La Banquise — the toughest part will be choosing among the many, many variations!
The next day, to continue exploring Montreal, consider getting a bird’s-eye view by riding the panoramic elevator of the Olympic Stadium tower. A breathtaking view awaits you at the top.
Then, spend the morning at Montreal’s Biodome, where you’ll encounter the main ecosystems of the American continent. The place is home to (among others) lynxes, caimans, penguins, and puffins.
Near the Biodome and the stadium, I also recommend a visit to Montreal’s Botanical Garden. You’ll find several themed gardens including Chinese and Japanese gardens, which are genuinely beautiful. It’s open all seasons and free in winter.
To wrap up your second day in Montreal, head over to Saint Catherine Street, a massive commercial artery with numerous shops and several shopping centers. The city’s famous underground network that keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer runs under the entire street.
If you wish to see even more of Montreal, check out my dedicated post: Top 33 Things to absolutely see in Montreal!
To easily visit Montreal in 2 days, I recommend using the STM website. It calculates the quickest route in real-time. Bus or metro stops, as well as any possible line issues, are indicated, which is super handy. That way, you won’t waste any time on transportation!

2) Mont-Tremblant (1 day)
The second stop on this 2-week journey through Quebec is the delightful Mont-Tremblant. It’s about a 90-minute drive to get to Mont-Tremblant Park from Montreal.
This region is a hit in Canada because in the fall, the landscape transforms into a stunning warm-hued palette. I’ve been lucky enough to experience this firsthand, and let me tell you, it’s a sight for sore eyes.
Guess what? You can actually grab a seat on a helicopter flight over Mont-Tremblant and the Laurentians, treating yourself to an awe-inspiring bird’s-eye view of this stunning beauty! Ready to book your spot?
During your day at Mont-Tremblant, I’d also advise you to go for a hike. It’s one of the best ways to fully take in the stunning landscape. The Rock and Cornice Trail is one of the most accessible ones.
If you happen to be in Mont-Tremblant during summer, you can also enjoy water sports on the lake, go summer sledding, or even try out a thrilling 4km zip-line descent! And if it’s winter, Mont-Tremblant is a renowned ski resort, so you’ll get to hit the slopes to your heart’s content.
In winter, I’d also highly recommend one activity that, to me, is a must-do on a trip to Quebec at this time of the year: a snowmobile excursion!

3) La Mauricie National Park (2 days)
To make the most of your 14, 15, or 16-day trip to Quebec and not miss out on any quintessential Canadian experiences, I suggest spending the next two days in a national park.
The closest to Mont-Tremblant is the La Mauricie National Park. It’ll take about 3 hours to drive there, so plan to spend a morning on the road.
Afternoon is the perfect time to relax amidst the stunning natural landscapes the park has to offer and have a blast with one of the cool activities on the menu. In the summer, why not take a serene canoe ride on one of the lakes or go for a refreshing hike?
During winter, it’s the perfect time to try your hand at thrilling activities like snowmobiling or dog sledding, which are pretty much mandatory for a true Canadian adventure!
On your second day at La Mauricie National Park, I highly recommend making the excursion to the Waber falls. It’s a bit of a workout with 8km of canoeing and 8km of walking round trip, but it’s perfectly doable in a day. Waber falls is the perfect spot for a picnic in the heart of nature.

4) Lac Saint-Jean (1 day)
The fourth leg of this 2-week Quebec journey takes you to Lac St-Jean.
Roughly located 3h45 minutes away from La Mauricie National Park, you can expect the drive to occupy a good chunk of your morning. But fret not, as the route offers gorgeous scenic views.
Your afternoon itinerary is full of exciting options, so you’ll have plenty to choose from based on your interests and vacation style.
One of the must-see attractions in the Lac St-Jean region is the famous St-Félicien zoo. Most of the animals here roam free while you’ll be the one in a cage, touring around in a small fenced train.
Prepare to be amazed as you’ll have the chance to observe Canada’s incredibly diverse wildlife, including bison, moose, bears, and wolves. If you’re on this two-week Quebec road trip with kids, they’ll love it. And you too!
Click here for more information on the St-Félicien zoo.
If you’re a museum lover, I strongly recommend a visit to the Indigenous museum in Mashteuiatsh, located by the lake. You’ll learn more about the Indigenous peoples native to this region of Quebec.
You can find all the details on the museum’s official website.
You might also want to check out the historic village of Val-Jalbert. There, you’ll discover an authentic 1920s village with about forty historical buildings and costumed characters to bring the past to life.

5) Fjord-du-Saguenay (2 days)
Today, to continue this two-week adventure through Quebec, we’re hitting the road to the awe-inspiring Saguenay fjord in “Fjord-du-Saguenay”. It’s about a 2-hour drive from Lac St-Jean.
Get ready to feast your eyes on some seriously stunning landscapes at the fjord.
When it comes to things to do in Fjord-du-Saguenay, here are my suggestions:
- Visit the charming village of L’Anse St-Jean, ranked among Quebec’s most beautiful villages. It’s the only village on the southern shore of the fjord and offers breathtaking panoramas.
- Similarly, you might also want to visit the village of Sainte-Rose-Du-Nord. Tucked in a small valley, surrounded by mountains, the views here are just as majestic.
- Go for a hike in Fjord-du-Saguenay Park. The Statue Trail (7 km round trip) is the most famous one. The view from the top is really worth the climb.
- Hop on a boat cruise and soak in the beauty of the fjord from below while discovering the fascinating history of its formation.
- And for the adventure-seekers, I recommend kayaking in the sea (book here). If you’re lucky, you might even get to spot whales and belugas!
During the winter, you can also plan for:
- Ice fishing to catch your fish from a hole drilled in the ice
- Snowshoeing
- Cross-country skiing.
Of course, you can spread out these activities over your two-day visit to the fjord.
Staying at the Saguenay fjord
- Auberge du dimanche: The establishment is located in the town of Rivière-Éternité, very close to the fjord. Nice and spacious double room starting from €70 per night, breakfast included. Strong points: the setting and the tranquility, comfortable bedding, impeccable cleanliness. It’s my favorite for its value for money, I really recommend you stay 2 nights.

The lodge is fully equipped, the decor is modern, and it has a terrace and a barbecue. The place is very quiet and the view is magnificent. From €100 per night + €30 for cleaning. I highly recommend it for a stay immersed in the heart of Canadian nature! Don’t hesitate for long, there’s only one!

6) Tadoussac (1 day)
For this sixth leg of the journey, get ready for one of the iconic experiences of your 2-week Quebec adventure! That’s right, you’re going whale watching!
To do this, you’ll need to head to Tadoussac, about a 2-hour drive from the town of Fjord-du-Saguenay.
Tadoussac, in addition to being among the top 50 most beautiful bays in the world, is a privileged spot for whale watching. To see them, you’ll have a variety of cruise options, varying in length and vessel type (large boat, zodiac, or kayak).
For a big boat outing, your best option is to book your tickets here:
The cruise lasts 3 hours and also includes a tour of the Saguenay fjord. If you didn’t get the chance to do this while in Saguenay, here’s your opportunity! Of course, the main event will be seeking out the whales.
And if you prefer to get as close to the whales as possible and be in a smaller group, I recommend opting for a zodiac outing. It lasts about 2.5 hours and also includes a fjord excursion.

Route 138, from Tadoussac to Quebec City, cruising through Charlevoix, is a breathtaking road trip that will keep you hooked all the way! Once you reach La Malbaie, I highly recommend ditching Route 138 and embarking on an exciting detour by taking Route 362 to Baie St-Paul. This scenic route is a gem and is ranked among the top 10 most beautiful drives in Canada.
Highlights of your stay in Charlevoix:
- Take a walk in the Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie park. Thanks to the Malbaie River and the surrounding mountains, the landscape is simply stunning.
- You can also take a river cruise.

From Charlevoix, it’s barely an hour to Quebec City.
In just 48 hours, we’ll unlock the magic of Quebec City’s must-see sites. Just follow this guide!
Upon arrival, kick off your exploration with a stroll along the Terrasse Dufferin. Once you’re there, be sure to take in the breathtaking sight of Quebec City’s iconic landmark: Château Frontenac, one of the world’s most photographed hotels! Join in and capture the magic!
Experience the charm from within by booking a night there, or opt for a guided tour for a more economical adventure:
The walk also offers a stunning viewpoint of the St. Lawrence River and the Island of Orleans.
Next, make a stop at the Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec, a “National Historic Sites of Canada” renowned for its remarkable architecture.
Then, hop on the funicular to get to the Petit-Champlain district, Quebec City’s most charming area with its quaint little shops and cobblestone streets. In the neighborhood, make sure to check out Place Royale and the amazing mural called “Fresque des Québécois“.
Wrap up your day with a magical sunset cruise to savor the breathtaking view of Quebec City from the river. Don’t miss this essential activity during your time in Quebec City—it’s truly unforgettable!
Curious about the two types of activities they offer? Just click on the links below to get all the details!
- An evening cruise with entertainment featuring a DJ to get the party started.
- A 5-course gourmet dinner cruise for a romantic evening.
In winter, these cruises are not available but you can replace them with a round-trip on the Quebec-Levis ferry which is equipped with an icebreaker to cross the frozen river.
On the next day, begin your adventure with a visit to the Quebec Citadel and the Plains of Abraham, conveniently located nearby. You can then visit the Parliament building and go up to the Observatoire de la Capitale lookout to admire Quebec City from above.
In the afternoon, we’ll head to the world-famous Montmorency Falls, which are even taller than Niagara Falls! The site is truly awe-inspiring, and you’ll be amazed by its beauty. Some visitors, myself included, even prefer it in winter, when a part of the falls freezes, creating a magical and unique scene!
To get to the top of the falls, I suggest booking your cable car ticket in advance, which will help you avoid the queue:
