This is where the city’s first inhabitants settled during the Middle Ages.
With its small squares, historic buildings, and pedestrian cobblestone streets, it’s the most picturesque place to stay in the Swedish capital.
However, being a very small island, there are only a few hotels, so you’ll need to book well in advance if you want to stay here during your trip to Stockholm!
This district is ideal for accommodation in Stockholm:
- To immerse yourself in the history and culture of the city
- For its authentic atmosphere (even if it’s quite touristic)
- To easily get around, the city since Gamla Stan is served by the metro and ferries.
